-
Description of the "Assistant" functions
The job of the Assistant is to ask you questions and then to offer
you one or more products that are suitable for your particular application
on the basis of your answers.
-
Description of the "Assistant" technology and presentation of
the product
The "Assistant" was developed within the framework of an EU project
in cooperation with the tec:inno company in Kaiserlslautern. The
technology used comes from the field of AI research. This technology
is called "case-based reasoning" - CBR for short. The basic features
of this tool were developed at Kaiserslautern University and the
Humboldt University in Berlin. The application technology for the
tools was developed by tec:inno. This technology enables us to perform
a "fuzzy search" that also finds products that do not exactly meet
the defined criteria. This is the first time this technology has
been used in an equipment catalogue anywhere in Europe.
-
Description of the navigation options in the "Assistant"
You can answer the questions asked by the "Assistant" in any order.
The individual stages in the advisory process are represented by
a blue register bar. When you have answered all the questions that
are relevant to your specific application, you can start the search
(by clicking on the "Result" button).
- Description
of the input windows in the "Assistant"
All the questions affect the result and should be answered wherever
possible.
-
Description of the result displayed by the "Assistant" and of
the result lists
The result list shows products that are suitable for your specific
application. The accuracy of the result naturally depends on the
answered questions as well as on the application. This is why you
should answer all the questions wherever possible.
- Note
on long search time for the first search routine
During the first search routine, the system executes a number of
procedures in the memory, and this can take some time - particularly
if the catalogue is used on older computers.
