On Saturday, 8 August 2026, the regional news portal Mittelpfalz.de reported on the event “Weaving for Children”, which will take place on 13 September 2026. It will be held as part of the “Cloth Making Day” event on the premises of the former textile factory Gebrüder Haas (Klostergartenstr. 11, 67466 Lambrecht), which today houses the electrical engineering company Jola Spezialschalter. In addition to museum director Gerald Lehmann, the young participants – and perhaps some older ones as well – will be supervised by textile artist Annegret Borgwardt (kreatives-handweben.de). As well as two looms, several small weaving frames will be provided to give participants the opportunity to gain practical experience.
Gerald Lehmann commented: “While weaving for children on a hand loom is already unique, as nothing of the kind is offered anywhere in the surrounding area, it also marks a very special first. For after the former Gebrüder Haas textile factory ceased operations in 1961, children’s weaving will mark the first time that weaving has once again taken place on looms in the former textile factory!”
The free activity can be attended without prior registration from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
