New Old Company Signs

The door signs of all the predecessor companies of Jola Spezialschalter GmbH & Co. KG were recovered – and promptly hung in their old place to represent our company history since 1868: next to the (now historical) entrance of the administration building.

The story began with Adam Haas (1840-1913) in 1868 who initially worked as a sole trader and then developed with his brothers from 1870 onwards the firm Gebrüder Haas (Haas Brothers). His son Albert Haas (1877-1936) succeeded him and represents the second generation of the family company. He was then followed by his nephew Karl Mattil (1897-1982). The latter unfortunately had to stop cloth production in 1961 for economic reasons but had already founded the electro-technical company Jola Spezialschalter GmbH in 1952, which now took over the baton – albeit at first under modest conditions. In 1970 the two companies merged to form Jola-Spezialschalter K. Mattil & Co., which in turn was renamed Jola Spezialschalter GmbH & Co. KG in 2013. What followed was an era of growth for the company shaped by Karl Mattil, together with his sons Dieter Mattil (1939-1995) and Volker Mattil (born 1949). Meanwhile, the latter left the management duties to his son Lars Mattil.

The (re-)attachment of the signs is more than a humble nod to one’s own history. Because nothing is without effort, it is a commitment to remain true to the direction’s business motto:
To create and to strive | is our imperative, | progress is life, | stagnation is death !
